The PT20™ CPU is a portable data processing terminal designed to capture, process and print weight-related information gathered from Phoenix Scales’ remote load-sensing equipment. Built around a dedicated central processor, the unit lets operators monitor and control loads away from the load point itself, without needing a permanent connection to an office PC, making it well suited to site-based load verification, lifting and vehicle weighing work.
The PT20™ CPU is supplied as a complete kit comprising the central processor unit, a built-in printer for producing hard-copy weight tickets on site, and a dedicated power supply for recharging the unit between uses. Data connectivity is provided through a USB/RS232 output, which allows the PT20™ to communicate with a range of external devices, including PCs and remote displays, without the need for cables, reducing set-up time and improving safety around the weighing area. The unit’s on-screen software can present results as either a Scale Layout or a Scale List, showing Weight Units alongside either Total Weight and Centre of Gravity, or a full Gross, Net, Tare (GNT) breakdown, depending on which is most useful for the task in hand.
Rather than being tied to a single fixed capacity, the PT20™ CPU is designed to sit alongside whichever compatible load cells or remote weighing sensors are appropriate for the job, such as crane scales, weighpads or axle weighing systems, so its effective capacity is determined by the sensors it is paired with. To support detailed record keeping, the software includes four optional user information fields and seven optional vehicle information fields that are printed automatically on the ticket, making it straightforward to log operator, job or registration details alongside every weighment. The unit also computes automatic altitude and latitude corrections, which helps to maintain measurement accuracy when loads are weighed away from sea level or across different geographic locations.
Phoenix Scales is a UKAS ISO 17025 accredited calibration laboratory and an ISO 9001:2015 and Cyber Essentials certified company. We supply, install and calibrate the PT20™ CPU as part of a wider portable weighing system, with UKAS-traceable calibration certification available on request, and our engineers provide ongoing servicing, repair and re-calibration support to keep the unit reading accurately throughout its working life.
