Coil Weigher

Our range of coil weighers are manufactured in the United Kingdom and are a heavy duty platform with double ended shear beam loadcells for the ultimate strength. Manufactured to suit your application in standard or bespoke sizes, each coil weigher is supplied complete with a weighing indicator, with optional large remote displays available for ease of viewing if required.

Specification

Standard or bespoke sizes are available to suit your exact requirements, so the coil weigher platform can be built to match the diameter and handling arrangement of the coils being weighed. Each unit is fitted with 4 double ended shear-beam OIML approved load cells, chosen for the ultimate strength needed to support heavy, concentrated coil loads. These load cells carry protection against dust and moisture rated at IP66 to IP68 depending on your application, so the weigher can be specified to suit anything from a dry indoor store to a wet or dusty production environment. The platform itself is topped with a 20 mm thick top plate, giving a rigid, heavy duty loading surface designed to withstand the point loading and rough handling typical of coil storage and movement.

Capacity & Application

Coil weighers are built as heavy duty platforms specifically for weighing metal coils and similar heavy, awkwardly shaped loads in steel, wire, paper and cable manufacturing and stockholding environments. The double ended shear beam load cell arrangement is designed to cope with off-centre and edge loading, which is common when coils are placed onto the platform by crane or lifting equipment, while the 20 mm top plate resists denting and damage from repeated heavy use. The option of a large remote display allows the weight reading to be seen clearly from a crane cab or from a distance, and standard or bespoke platform sizing means the weigher can be matched to a single coil size or a wide range of coil diameters and weights.

Approvals

The load cells fitted to our coil weighers are OIML approved, supporting accurate, verifiable weighing results in demanding industrial environments. Phoenix Scales is a UKAS ISO 17025 accredited calibration laboratory and an ISO 9001:2015 and Cyber Essentials certified company. We manufacture, install and calibrate coil weighers with UKAS-traceable certification, and our engineers provide ongoing servicing, repair and re-calibration support to keep each platform performing accurately throughout its working life.
